We asked people to come together in the Village Hall and brainstorm what they would like the area to be used for. To our surprise over 20 people turned up!

If there is anything you can help us with, please contact us!

  • Community allotments for local groups eg Garden Club, Kemble School, Brownies Done!
  • Private allotments - per person or to share Done! - will create more in the Autumn, after the birds have gone.
  • Fruit trees and soft fruit area Planned for July08-Jan09
  • Community composting facility Started - 'pallet bins' under the trees for use by all
  • BBQ space Done!
  • Quiet seating area (with seats!) Planned for Feb09-Oct09
  • Environment area, including later on, a pond
  • Methods for water capture (see picture on the right)
  • Community meeting space for teaching and learning about food, wildlife and gardening Planned for Oct09 onwards
  • Messy places for children to play safely They've done this theselves
  • Still wondering what to do about dogs Sorted, dogs allowed, but owners must clear up afterwards. There are now doggie bags by the gates.

How you can help
  • Clearing brambles and digging
  • Offering spare plants and seeds
  • Sharing and using shredders, strimmers, loppers and saws
  • We need water buts, pallets to stand them on, and Compost bins
  • Building/providing benches - look what can be done with an old pallet!
  • Mulching material eg manure
  • Cardboard to supress weeds
  • Building places for slow-worms, hedghogs etc to hibernate in. Put downn a piece of corrugate iron for the slow worms; use the stone that will have ceom from creating your plot to make a small cairn
  • Fencing
  • Making paths
  • We need Composing toilets!
