We asked people to come together in the Village Hall and brainstorm what they would like the area to be used for. To our surprise over 20 people turned up!

If there is anything you can help us with, please contact us!

  • Community allotments for local groups eg Garden Club, Kemble School, Brownies Done!
  • Private allotments - per person or to share Done! - Fruit trees and soft fruit area Started March 09
  • Community composting facility Done - 'pallet bins' by the main gate
  • BBQ space Done!
  • Quiet seating area (with seats!) Planned for June09
  • Environment area - started
  • Ponds - done
  • Methods for water capture (see picture on the right)
  • Community meeting space for teaching and learning about food, wildlife and gardening Planned for Oct09 onwards
  • Messy places for children to play safely They've done this theselves
  • Still wondering what to do about dogs Sorted, dogs allowed, but owners must clear up afterwards. There are now doggie bags by the gates.
  • Composting toilets

We need:

  • Mulching material eg manure
  • Cardboard to supress weeds
  • Containers for water buts
  • Plastic guttering and corrugated plastic (for water collection)
  • Fruit cage and netting
  •  

    How you can help

    • Come along to the work-days once a month to clearing brambles and dig the community area
    • Offer spare plants and seeds
    • Share shredders, strimmers, loppers and saws
    • Build/provide benches - look what can be done with an old pallet!
    • Leave piles of stones for the slow-worms, frogs and hedghogs, and put downn a piece of corrugated iron for the slow worms;
    • Makie paths
