Please do not disturb the slow worms, or take them away.

Please start growing/taking cuttings of pond plants, soft fruit plants, fruit trees, exotic things like quince as well as apples and strawberries etc. These are for the new soft-fruit and community orchard, in September 08.

The insurance is now sorted, including for the (potential)pond

If you find bits of metal etc, please place in a neat pile by the 'pagoda'. There are lots of bits of rubbish in the undergrowth that need to be removed so that children can play safely in the wooded areas.

Help youself to baby plants - on the righthand side by the big gate.

We will build some community composting bins to the left of the gate once the sand has been used up. This will be for anyone to use, not just allotment holders.

News

Sara Powell and family are creating some community flower beds and pots. Please save any seeds from your own gardens for her now, ready for nexxt year.

Comfrey

We have been given comfrey roots to plant and Alison suggested each compost bay has a comfrey patch beside it. It is brilliant for composting and also for making comfrey juice which is an excellent fertiliser. The roots are in a box on the ground near Gabi’s plot.

Plant swop
We have set up an area for donations of any spare seedlings – on the shelves by Gabi’s plot. (Plot on right of main gate as you enter) You can put pots of spare seedlings there and take any seedlings you want.

Manure

Help yourself to the BIG heap of horse manure on the right. Suggest that you leave the stuf under the tarpaulin alone (very smelly and needs to rot down!).

Plots are flourishing and Kemble school has taken over its own plot - 21 children came and prepared the school plot and planted beans, squash, corn and strawberries.

Community plots have been set up in which potatoes and broad beans are growing.
